About this project
Abstract: AquaWood Group Uganda proposes a project to leverage satellite imagery and machine learning to monitor and protect Uganda's natural resources. Our initiative aims to promote sustainable forest management, reduce deforestation, water pollution and engage local communities in environmental conservation efforts. By harnessing innovative technologies and collaborative approaches, we strive to preserve Uganda's rich biodiversity, ensure sustainable land use, and promote a healthy environment for future generations. This project aligns with our mission to create a sustainable future for Uganda's environment and communities.
Goals and Objectives
1. Promote sustainable forest management and conservation.
2. Leverage technology (satellite imagery and machine learning) for environmental monitoring.
3. Engage local communities in sustainable land-use planning.
4. Protect biodiversity and support climate action.
5. Empower communities through eco-friendly practices and education.
Our objectives include:
1. Monitoring and reporting deforestation and water pollution.
2. Collaborating with stakeholders to promote sustainable land-use practices.
3. Developing and delivering innovative ICT solutions for environmental conservation.
4. Conducting comprehensive assessments and evaluations of environmental conservation impact.
These goals and objectives align with our mission to create a sustainable future for Uganda's environment and communities.
Expected result
1. Improved monitoring and reporting: Enhanced ability to track deforestation and environmental degradation using satellite imagery and machine learning.
2. Increased community engagement: Local communities empowered through training and awareness programs, promoting sustainable land-use practices.
3. Informed decision-making: Data-driven insights informing policy decisions and conservation efforts.

About me / organisation
Mesarch Senjiyunva
Background:
As the Project Manager for AQUAWOOD UGANDA, I bring a strong background in Information Systems and Technology, leadership, and environmental conservation. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems and Technology from Makerere University, where I was an active student leader and served in various capacities, including Class Coordinator, Projects Coordinator, and College Speaker at the College of Computing and Information Science.
Leadership Experience:
My leadership experience extends beyond academia, having served as College Coordinator for Youth Go Green Makerere chapter, focused on environmental conservation. I was also a member of the African Youth Leadership Forum Makerere chapter and volunteered as a Youth Ambassador with an international global network.
Professional Experience:
In addition to my academic and leadership experience, I have worked as a Data Processor at the National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA), where I was responsible for processing and managing data related to national identification. This experience has equipped me with strong data management and analytical skills.
Current Role:
As the Project Manager for AQUAWOOD UGANDA, I am responsible for overseeing the implementation of our climate change project, which utilizes satellite imagery and machine learning to monitor deforestation and promote sustainable land-use practices. My team and I are committed to protecting Uganda's biodiversity and promoting sustainable development.
