What is Youth for Water and Climate?
The Youth for Water and Climate Platform was created as an
outcome of COP 21. Led by the International Secretariat for
Water and supported by a consortium of organizations active
in the water and climate space, the platform offers young
water professionals, activists and entrepreneurs with funding,
resources and programs to develop and implement their own
initiatives and become successful leaders in the water space.
Globally, the relationship between climate resilience, water
security and youth employment is an urgent issue and will
become more central in the coming years. Youth face
unavoidable technical and financial gaps due to barriers such
as access to funding, support from organizations working in
the water sector, access to education, and transparency,
quality, and data availability.
Through partnerships and an innovative mechanism, this
platform aims to ensure that youth have access to the
relevant tools, funding, experience and programmes to build
their career in the water & climate space, contributing to
create a more sustainable and water-secure future for all.
The belief is that once youth are fully equipped to realize their
potential, youth can become creators, leaders, and
entrepreneurs in addressing the challenges of the sustainable
management of water resources in a changing world and
global climate, and will contribute to the implementation of the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
