About this project

Kasese district is locarted in western uganda around mount rwenzori with a major river nyamwamba passing through itd major town of kasese municipality.Plastic pollution is an increasing burden within Kasese municipality where plastics are found everywhere on streets, river banks and drainage systems within town and the outskirts of town. This is due to increased use of single use plastics and inadequate plastic waste management systems which has a negative effect on the environment where Plastics clog river banks of nyamwamba and block the water drainage systems within the area. The plastic pollution increases the risks of floods, pollution of soil and marine life, affecting ecosystems and overall biodiversity.

To solve this problem, we have designed a youth female led project named the "eco builders" to address plastic pollution by turning plastic waste into useful construction materials to ensure environmental conservation, economic empowerment and reduce risks of floods, water pollution and soil pollution within the slams of nyamwamba division - Kasese municipality.
