About this project
Around 61% of Nepalese are engaged in agriculture, however, this is a sad reality that they all haven't been able to properly use the kitchen waste from their home. So, our project aim is towards setting up compost bin or container or in the field(by digging) according to suitability. We will first aware and showcase the importance how setting up a home composter is significant to minimize waste and reuse it in agricultural purpose. Once they agree to implement, We will guide them procedures and required materials(especially local composter Jholmol) to speed up composting process, we encourage them to use locally available means and resources to minimize cost and to use available resources as dry brown leaves from nearby forests. Our main aim of the project is firstly to divide wastes into degradable and non degradable. We again divide non degradable into plastic and non-plastic i.e. we will have 3 dustbin in totals. We will make compost using our own jholmol for degradable wastes. For non-degradable waste, we will keep them in containers of plastic and other. To fight burning issue of plastic, we are planning to reduce plastics by using fibers bags from bananas and bottles and cups from bamboo. However, our main area will be focusing on composting and local fertilizer implementation to almost 500 households.
Goals and Objectives
1.To minimize kitchen waste and utilize it again for composting
2. To aware, advocate and provide training regarding methods and mode of composting to atleast 500 households(if possible will give vermicomposting)
3. Produce eco-friendly fertilizer and train especially marginalised women to prepare this bio-fertilizer using locally available means and resources.
There are actually 3 goals-
1. Preparing compost in 500 households
2. Bio-fertilizer production from locally available resources and means
3. To fight against plastic pollution, bamboo products encouragement.
Firstly, main objective is to train the local farmers(especially those having at least 0.1 acres of land and monthly income less than NPR 18000. This will proritize for womens engaged in agriculture, single parent and marginalized communities so that they also could be financially strong
Those person intending to give time and having keen passion to the project will be given priority.
They will be benefitted from the project as they will learn composting skills, making bio-fertilizer and can be skilled at even marketing and sales to replace chemical fertilizer. Also, crafting bamboo plates and cups will put them step forward towards finance, sustainability
Expected result
The expected results are actually quite specific-
1. Around 500 households will be skilled at composting techniques and enjoy the perks
2. Clear-cut wastage reduction from household and more product of compost which in turn reused in agriculture
3. PH, moisture meter will be used to check and surely soil fertility will increase.
4. Bio fertilizers production strategy will be adopted by atleast 400 farmers.
5. aound 400 people learn crafting from bamboo
