About this project
The project will provide about 5000 people living in one of the largest Afghan refugee settlements in H-12 Sector Islamabad, Pakistan with an access to safe and clean drinking water through the dissemination of cost-effective portable off-grid hollow fibre based water filters and through the construction of 2 new boreholes. The new boreholes will be constructed to solve the water shortage problem of refugee community which currently relies on the water supply from already operational hand operated borehole (depth: 90 ft.) and three wells (depth: 35-45 ft.). The refugee households will be provided with new Jerry cans to in order to store and filter water for the drinking purposes. Refugees will be trained for proper usage and maintenance of filters.
Goals and Objectives
Goal - Improve access to clean water to 5000 refugees in Afghan refugee camp in Islamabad.
Specific objectives - Carry out construction of two new boreholes by the end of March 2018, Distribute 120 Portable Community Filters with Jerry cans to 120 Households, Ensure long-term sustainability by engaging and training volunteers and the community for operation and maintenance.
